Fidel Castro, the billionaire communist dictator of
Cuba, is in a position
to cut some sweet trade deals with {among others}
Archer Daniels Midland,
which finds itself financially strapped of late. But first they need to
knock
down the trade embargo, which has forced A D M to act through its Spanish
subsidiary -- a considerable cost.
Since the Cuban-American
community
has been the major supporter of the embargo, these people must be
demonized in order to diminish their influence. That has been a central agenda of the mainstream press
throughout the Elian affair.
ADM and its fat-cat chairman Dwayne
Andreas shelled out the cash
necessary to recompense Washington insider and mouth-piece
Greg Craig for his legal services, subversion of the press,
scuttling of negotiations, etc. Laundering the deal with help from
the National Council of Churches...
