TRAITORS

Through the public relations efforts of the New York Times and others, Fidel fashioned himself as the new lone voice and supreme leader of the fledgling Revolution.  His word alone became the law of the land.  Fidel executed or imprisoned all other possible members of any post revolutionary coalition faithful to its beginnings and to Cuba's future.

TRAITORS

At its beginning, the Cuban Revolution's success was the result of a combined struggle for social justice. Everywhere: among the students, the workers, the poor, the  middle class, in the cities, in the countryside, even among many wealthy, Cubans wanted an end to the corruption of Batista's dictatorship.  Long before Fidel Castro's prominence, the Cuban Revolution had the moral and spiritual support of a majority of the Cuban people.

Armed insurrection was one course advocated by many groups; most of them preceding or concurrent to Castro's followers.  Before his 26th of July Group there were:
Movimiento Nacional Revolutionario
Movimiento de Liberacion Radical
Triple A and
El Directorio Revolutionario, and then later
The Escambray Guerrilla Force.
The many courageous leaders of these groups are far too numerous to mention.

Establishing block by block Gestapo-style vigilante neighborhood informant networks, suspending the Constitution, free elections, all impartial judicial processes and freedom of expression, Castro has maintained a totalitarian iron grip over the island and its people for over 43years.

Any other, more glorified, interpretation of his life is a travesty of cruel proportion.
